Chase your dreams with the dedication of a warrior
Koots Roots Yoga;
Founded in January 2018 in Nakusp, BC Koots Roots Yoga quickly gathered momentum among locals and tourists alike who are happy to have access to regular classes in this humble little village nestled in the mountains. The quaint studio located on the second floor of the Old Fire Hall is beautifully decorated and comfortably accommodates a large group of students.
Owner & Teacher; Kristi Williamson
After being a student of yoga for over 10 years Kristi completed her Yoga Alliance teacher training in 2016 with Laura Martini and Shawna Nyrose in Kelowna, BC. After teaching for a year in a few studios in Kelowna, Kristi moved to Nakusp where she opened her own small studio and has since been leading a wide range of classes to students of all ability levels.  Recognizing that continued education is paramount in the industry she is always eager to expand her knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of yoga.  Kristi has attended yoga festivals, retreats, courses and workshops of varied focuses and takes a lot of pride in curating interesting and well-balanced class sequences.  When not on the mat Kristi runs a home-based nail business and otherwise enjoys all things outdoors; camping, hiking, fishing, gardening, walking her dogs and riding her motorbike.
Teacher;
Chelsea Potter
Chelsea's yoga journey began as a young student growing up in the Candian Rockies where she came to practice as a means to better understand her body, breath, and emotions. Over time the deep personal benefits to her mental health and general well being that yoga brought were undeniable. This inspired her to want to share the gift of yoga with others so in 2017 she got certified through the Vancouver School of Yoga with teachers Lila Rasa Brown and Natalie Rousseau. From there she went backpacking In India where she was fortunate to learn and practice with multiple local teachers. It was there that she gained a deeper connection to yoga and its roots. Chelsea teaches with a strong focus on accessibility and believes yoga can and should be available to everyone.
Teacher; Dawn Petrin
Dawns experience in the yoga world can hardly be put into this small section of space.  She is wise beyond her years, has care and compassion that exceeds the norm and a presence that is so lovely and disarming.  She has an adventurous spirit and the soul of a gypsy so you'll want to take in her classes at any opportunity because we never know where(and when) life will take this woman.
Teacher; Meg Lesack
Meg was introduced to yoga by her mother around 20 years ago, they would practice together at the local recreation center in South Surrey where Meg spent most of her younger years. Throughout her life she has continued to practice yoga on and off, sometimes taking years away but always coming back, drawn by it's healing nature and her keen interest in yoga philosophy.

Meg completed MA Yoga’s 200 hour YTT in Victoria, B.C. in August and plans to continue to deepen her practice and offerings by engaging in Teacher Trainings for Trauma Sensitive, Yin and Restorative Yoga. (We look forward to adding that to the schedule!) She has a desire to foster accessible and safe spaces for movement practice with consideration and respect for the spiritual aspect of yoga.

When not teaching, she is most often outdoors enjoying Mother Nature or working away as an RN in B.C.’s Rural and Remote communities.
